Gypsy jazz (also known as "Gypsy Swing") is an idiom often said to have been started by Django Reinhardt in the 1930s. Because its origins are largely in France it is often called by the French name, "Jazz manouche," or alternatively, "manouche jazz"

Django was foremost among a group of Gypsy guitarists working in and around Paris in the 1930s through the 1950s, a group which also included the Baro brothers, Sarane, and Matelo Ferret and Reinhardt's brother Joseph "Nin-Nin" Reinhardt,

Passing through classic song, bossa nova, jazz and even opera, the four forming the core of the "ALERTO JAZZ" group, Stefan, Axel, Mark and Raymond managed to bridge their musical & style differences and they formed a homogenous band sound. The group is based in Marseilles.

On 26 and 27 / 7 the French musicians will perform "Open Rehearsals" in various villages of Ikaria.

The official concerts will be given:

JULY 29    Agios Kirikos
