How did this custom develop? Who were the people who lived there for so many centuries? How, although times and needs have changed, the custom still exists?
The answer comes by following the lifestyle and philosophy of the three main characters of the film, all villagers. We see their wisdom both in their occupations and in their analysis of their lifestyle, and the discussions about the details of this custom.
But details are what enhances the lifestyle and the mind.
Specifically, the "grocer of the village” – and also a bee keeper and farmer- introduces the sociological history and the social structure of the island; A structure, ridden of social classes, where solidarity is the key factor of survival and growth of a basically poor society.
In this film there is no narrator. People themselves unfold their stories.
The power of the imagery acts as our guide to ultimately uncover the patterns of the Ikarian thought resisting the calls of modern reality.
Appearing: George Stenos, Charalambos Stroupas and the residents of St. Dimitris village.
